• 2009 | The Copenhagen Accord- COP 15 - Copenhagen

    content

The agreement recognises that the increase in global temperature must remain below 2°C in order to avoid dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system, thereby echoing IPCC's 4th Assessment Report finding and underlining the need for a drastic reduction in global emissions. The agreement is not a UN agreement but has been signed by 140 UNFCCC countries.

It also calls for an assessment of whether current targets should be strengthened and whether a limit of 1.5°C should be considered to meet the UNFCCC goal.
