    The IPPC was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) to provide policymakers with regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks, as well as to put forward adaptation and mitigation options.

    The reports form the scientific basis of the international agreements. They are the most comprehensive, scientific reports on climate change worldwide.

    The IPCC does not conduct research itself but provides an overview of all peer-reviewed scientific publications on climate change. The panel not only summarises these studies, it also analyses them. For example, the IPCC reports include the latest key scientific findings as well as the degree of certainty of each covered subject.
